Day 01: Flight to Samara and Drive to Ahmedela
– Morning: – Flight from Addis Ababa to Semera.
– Drive from Semera to Ahmedela (approximately 430 km, 8 hours).
– Altitude: 80 meters below sea level.
Afternoon:
– Picnic lunch prepared by your cook.

Birding with Borana Safaris

Experience the Rich Birdlife of Borana National Park  
Join us for an unforgettable 2-night, 3-day birding adventure that will take you through the stunning landscapes of Borana National Park, Borana village, and local markets.

Itinerary
Day 1: Friday – Arrival and Birdwatching  

  •  Morning: Fly from Addis Ababa to Yabello.

  • Afternoon: Welcome at the airport and transfer to Borana Eco Lodge. Enjoy lunch upon arrival.

  •  Afternoon Activity: Begin your birdwatching experience around the campsite by Lake Haro Bake, focusing on spotting the unique bushcrow and other bird species.

  • Evening: Trek back to the campsite for a bonfire and a fantastic dinner under the stars.

Day 2: Saturday – Birding in Borana National Park  

  •  Early Morning: Enjoy a morning birding session

  • Morning Activity: Depart for Borana National Park, where you’ll have the chance to see Burchill’s zebras, dik-dik, gazelles, ostriches, and other mammals.

  • Afternoon: Return to Borana Eco Lodge for lunch.

  • Evening: Gather around the bonfire for dinner at the campsite.

Day 3: Sunday – Market Visit and Departure  

  • Morning: After breakfast, visit the Haro Bake camel market. Experience the vibrant trading practices of local pastoralists as they trade bulls, goats, sheep, and other livestock.

  •  Lunch: Enjoy a local meal at the market.

  •  Afternoon: Drive back to the airport for your departure to Addis Ababa.

Day 1: Arrival in Addis Ababa
Morning Arrive in Addis Ababa. Visit the Tiya Stelae, a UNESCO World Heritage site, to explore ancient history.
Afternoon Enjoy traditional Ethiopian cuisine at a local restaurant. Evening Overnight at Lake View Hotel.

Day 2: Addis Ababa to Hawassa
Morning Depart for Hawassa, visiting Sidama coffee farmers along the way.
Afternoon Arrive at Borana Eco Campsite. Experience the Buna Qala ceremony, an integral part of Borana culture.
Evening Enjoy a campfire at the campsite. Overnight at Borana Eco Campsite.

Day 3: Explore Konsso Village
Morning Travel to Konsso Village. Engage with local tribes and learn about their unique customs. Afternoon Explore traditional farming methods and visit local artisans.
Evening Overnight at Edget Hotel in Konsso.

Day 4: Konsso to Mursi and Banna Villages
Morning Depart for Mursi Village, famous for its unique lip plates and rich culture.
Afternoon Visit Banna Village to experience their traditional lifestyle.
Evening Overnight at Turumi Omega Guest House.

Day 5: Turumi to Karo and Hamer Villages
Morning Visit Karo Village, known for its stunning body paint and vibrant ceremonies.
Afternoon Continue to Hamer Village to witness their traditional dances and rituals.

Day 6: Turumi to Arba Minch
Morning Travel to Arba Minch, enjoying the breathtaking landscapes along the way.

Day 7: Explore Dorze Village and Twin Waterfalls

Day 8: Return to Addis Ababa
Morning Depart from Soddo, traveling via Abiyata-Shala National Park to enjoy its scenic beauty and diverse wildlife.
Afternoon Stop at Langano Lakes for relaxation and lunch.
Evening Arrive in Addis Ababa. Overnight at Best Western Hotel.

3-day adventure in the Danakil Depression

Danakil Depression Itinerary (2 Nights, 3 Days) 

Day 01: Flight to Samara and Drive to Ahmedela

  • Morning: – Flight from Addis Ababa to Semera.
    •  Drive from Semera to Ahmedela (approximately 430 km, 8 hours).
    • Altitude: 80 meters below sea level.
  • Afternoon:
    •  Picnic lunch prepared by your cook.
  • Evening:
    •  Arrive in Ahmedela, the last village before Dallol.
    • Overnight stay in traditional beds under the open sky.
    •  Dinner prepared by your cook.

Day 02: Visit Dallol and Erta Ale
 

  • Early Morning:
    • Depart for Dallol and Asal, 126 meters below sea level, the second lowest point in Africa.
    •  Explore the stunning landscape with its vibrant colors from sulfuric acids and minerals.
  • Afternoon:
    • Drive to Erta Ale (approximately 155 km, 6 hours).
    •  Picnic lunch made by your cook.
  • Evening:
    • Begin a 20-minute hike up to the crater rim of Erta Ale as the sun sets.
    •  Descend into the caldera to view the lava lake, one of the few in the world.
    • Overnight stay with mattresses, enjoying the starry sky and the unique basalt lava field.
    • Dinner prepared by your cook.

Day 03: Drive Back to Afdera

  • Morning:
    • Early morning return hike to Erta Ale to see the volcano in daylight.
    • Breakfast prepared by your cook.
  •  Midday:
    •  Drive back to Afdera (approximately 75 km, 2 hours).
    • Enjoy the bright green lake surrounded by black basalt mountains and observe modern salt extraction.
    • Option to bathe in nearby hot springs.
  • Afternoon:
    • Lunch at a restaurant in Afdera.
    •  Drive to Semera  (approximately 250 km, 5 hours).
  • Evening:
    •  Catch the late afternoon flight from Semera to Addis Ababa.
